Vermont State Trooper Wayne Godfrey and K9 Tarawa will be at the Martha Canfield Library to present a talk/demo about the K9 Program in Vermont.  K9 Tarawa is a 7 year-old male German Shepard. He was born in Nashua, NH, and raised in Castleton, VT, by a volunteer for the K9 program. K9 Tarawa was then assigned to Wayne when he was about a year old and they started their career together. K9 Tarawa is a certified patrol dog (tracking, narcotics detection, evidence recovery and apprehension). During their career, Wayne and K9 Tarawa have received two Lifesaving Awards: K9 Team of the Year and Apprehension of the Year. Their assistance during drug cases has also lead to criminal arrests. K9 Tarawa is a happy dog that loves to play fetch.  Wayne has achieved the position of an In-Service Trainer for the K9 program. K9 Tarawa also assists with this as he can help with showing new dogs their expectations. All are welcome!
