The Origins of Detective Fiction
Sunday 06 March 2016, 02:00pm
Hits : 371

Come join Sally Sugarman as she dives into the history of detective fiction and its place in our popular culture.  Despite dominating best seller lists and television programming, the mystery genre is often dismissed as trivial. On the contrary, it is invaluable in the ways in which it reflects society over time, as well as issues about the nature of morality and justice. Ms. Sugarman, always a popular speaker at the library, reviews for the detective journal, Deadly Pleasures, is a member of the Baker Street Irregulars, edits and writes for Groans, Cries and Bleatings, a quarterly Sherlockian newsletter.
